Sydney Harbour Concours d’Elegance

Cockatoo Island – Edition VII
28th February – 2nd March 2025

The Sydney Harbour Concours d’Elegance 2025 is just over six months away, and we can almost hear the resonant roar of exquisite automobiles.

Concours d’Elégance, translates from French to “competition of elegance”, originally referred to 17th-century French aristocrats parading horse-drawn carriages in Parisian parks. Today, it signifies prestigious events showcasing collectible automobiles, evolving from its equestrian roots to celebrate the finest in classic cars.

Magnificent VII edition is making its illustrious return to Cockatoo Island to showcase an extraordinary collection of the rarest and most exquisite historic vehicles from across the globe, as well as a curated selection of cutting-edge supercars, hypercars, electric vehicles, and luxury lifestyle brands.

Introducing the Facel Vega Facel II

“The HK500 was the most interesting car we ever made but the Facel II was the best. It was totally elegant.” Jean Daninos.

We are delighted to showcase the Facel Vega Facel II at our 2025 event — a rare gem with only 182 ever made and the sole example in Australia, recently arrived from Europe. Of these, only 20 were equipped with the coveted manual Pont-à-Mousson gearbox. Jean Daninos, who led Facel, described the Facel II as the company’s best and most elegant creation.

Facel, a French automobile company known for producing stylish, luxurious, and fast hand-built cars, catered to an elite clientele, including celebrities like Tony Curtis and Ringo Starr, as well as racing legends including Sir Stirling Moss. The Facel II, launched in 1961, combined French, American, and British engineering, producing a high-performance icon.

However, Facel’s ambitious foray into engine manufacturing led to its downfall, and by 1964, the company had ceased production, leaving behind a legacy of exclusive and highly sought-after cars.
