A regular attendant with a fabulous car every year at the Sydney Harbour Concours is the Lawson Family (indeed its car actually took out the award for Best of Show in 2021 with the 1936 Delage D6-70 Special by Figoni et Falschi). Andrew and Linda Lawson are also responsible for running the amazing Targa Classica https://targaclassica.com/ which I have also had the pleasure of being part of for five years – a wonderful four day festival of European style rallying and competition. This year, however, Andrew went big and I mean really big, not only entering but becoming, with his pal Tony Sutton, the overall winner of the Peking to Paris Motor Challenge 2025 in their 1939 Chevrolet Master Coupe.
What an incredible achievement, encapsulated in a few words from the ever self-deprecating Andrew, “Over 37 days across deserts and mountain ranges we followed the silk road to cross Asia and Europe and to win far surpasses our wildest dreams – just amazing. We are thrilled to make Paris and enjoyed every minute! There were so many highs and some very big lows, but we did it! Great friendships, great sights and a time I will never forget. I just can’t thank Tony enough for preparing an amazing car and having me as his teammate for the ride. I will be coughing up the dust from the Gobi desert for months but nothing will take my smile away for a long long time!”
