The European concours season in late spring and early summer is now in full swing. Three of my favourite events took place at the end of May. The Concorso d’Eleganza Villa d’Este on the shores of Lake Como was by all accounts the usual sophisticated, stylish and debonair affair as it always has been since 1929, whilst just down the road and not to be outdone FuoriConcorso 2025 placed its emphasis on ‘velocisssimo’ offering a different journey into the automotive culture of Italy.

And the on the following weekend in Malta, the Valletta Concours where Yohan Poonawalla took the honours, for the second consecutive year, with his stunning 1949 Rolls-Royce Silver Wraith. Alessandra Giorgetti, Chief Judge of the Sydney Harbour Concours d’Elegance witnessed the events first hand and said, “For cars and fashion VDE is number one, but for fun and an easy concours with sun, sea, and getting tanned and swimming then look no further than Valletta!”.
