Ars Gratia Artis – Art for arts sake: very dear to our hearts is the intrinsic beauty and creativity of expression of those who brought to life some of the most beautiful motor cars in the world on show at the Sydney Harbour Concours d’Elegance. Hence our encouragement of the arts as evidenced by the fabulous work of our first artist in residence earlier this year, Simon Cavelle of Pavilion Art https://www.pavilionart.com.
Here is his excellent representation in oils of the wonderful 2026 Best in Show winner, the 1936 Delage D6-70 with its amazing coachwork by Figoni et Falaschi. (please excuse the light reflection on the photograph below). Simon tells me that it has taken rather longer than usual to complete and that it still awaits its final coat of varnish which has been held up due to the inordinately hot weather in the UK!

If you would like to commission Simon to do a painting of your vehicle or a particular favourite please contact him to discuss simon@pavilionart.com.
And talking of artworks, in a different medium please check out the latest offering from Mary Ratcliffe who continues to produce lovely imagery for the Sydney Harbour Concours d’Elegance as seen on our website, tickets (coming soon for 2027), advertisements in Magneto magazine our award winning media partner, https://www.magnetomagazine.com/ and the general look and feel of our event. You will be seeing more of this illustration in the coming months as we move nearer to the start of our ninth edition which will contain a major photographic exhibition to be announced soon.
